Concerning my Avatar
I've gotten enough comments to warrant an explanation about my picture of Patrick Stewart with goofy glasses and a spider tatoo. He's dressed as Spider Jerusalem, the main character of "Transmetropolitan," a comic written by Warren Ellis. Spider is an outlaw journalist, loosely modeled on Hunter S. Thompson, who lives several hundred years in the future. There's a major story arc throughout the comic concerning Spider trying to destroy an evil, murderous president, but mostly he just does drugs, torments his assistants, editor, and mutant cat, and writes vulgar, acidic collums that combat the evils of the future, and seemto be the sole source of truth in his world. Sorry, that was a crappy synopsis. Just read the comic. The writing is awesome, and the artwork is amazing- check my pictures for some samples. Patrick Stewart is an avid fan of the series, and even wrote an introduction to one of the trade paperbacks. He's said a couple of times that he'd really like to play Spider in a possible Trasmet movie. I for one think that would be awesome, though it doesn't look like anyone else is interested in the film. So there you have it. It has nothing to do with Star Trek, Elton John, Stewart becoming a gay hair stylist, etc. Jesus. |
