Persona 4 Episode 17 summary (part 2)
-Before we find out any more, Detective Princess Naoto takes the documents and attempts to destroy them, but is followed by everybody else, as the guys really want to know and the girls want to destroy them. -Kanji remains with Big Pimpin' and he asks the Gangbanger if he wanted to know Naoto's bust. He denies it, though. He comments on how amazing she is and takes a lesson to heart about this. It may be easy to be badass, but it's harder to be himself. Kanji wonders why he told this all to Big Pimpin', but this is Big Pimpin' we're talking about. He knows all. -The next day at school, Big Pimpin' meets up with Naoto, who already got a love letter... from another girl. She isn't interested in such things, only in other cases. Big Pimpin' decides to use her detective skills to discover the true mystery behind the rainy day special, because they wish to know how they are able to compress so much meet in that bowl. Cue credits. -Our stinger for this episode shows somebody making a note, saying to stop helping people. Shock! Our preview indicates that we're hitting crunch time. For those that have played the game, you know exactly what this means, and you will become angry. Very angry. Review The episode itself covers the last half of Naoto's Shadow battle and the last big of character development for Kanji, showing how open he is with everybody else, especially with Yu. But then again, this is Yu we're talking about. For the most part, however, this is strictly a plot episode, as it's used to help connect more of the dots and to verified that the murder of King Moron had nothing to do with the case at all, but did show various other important facts. Naoto's kidnapping is also a major hint to how the missing are thrown into the Midnight Channel. Naoto herself is an interesting case of being a shout out to another series within the SMT line, mainly that of Detective Raidoh the XIV from the Devil Summoner games. Her persona is also a summoned creature from those games. What makes this interesting is the links that exist within the game that seem to make her part of a family of detectives, which Raidoh is, which means the whole summoning demons is part of the family bloodline. So the theory here is that Naoto is a descendent of Raidoh Kuzunoda the XIV. Here's another kicker, but it's more for those that have played Persona 3. Naoto herself mentions that her parents died in a car crash, but we never really get a time frame as to when that happened. Persona 3's main protagonist's parents also happened to have been killed in a car crash. Now, normally this alone wouldn't be enough to make the connection, but take a good look at Naoto's hair and eyes. Blue hair with dull grey eyes, similar to the P3 protagonist. Granted, these are only theories, but fun ones. I wonder if the anime will do nothing but fuel the fire when Naoto get's her capture episode. I guess we'll see. Finally, it appears that Kanji has fallen for our Detective Princess hard, helping to prove my theory that Big Pimpin' will get himself a Pop Idol for Christmas. |
