New stuff
So I got a new laptop. ASUS Zenbook, UX31E something or other. So far, it's been great with 2 exceptions. The first is an issue with my primary wireless network(I have a primary and a guest). For some reason, I can connect to my guest network just fine, and do whatever I want without being able to interface with the rest of my network. With my primary, though, I can't do much of anything. I don't know if it's a problem with the WPA2 or what, since the guest network is WEP(for my old DS games, mostly), but it's getting annoying. I've tried restarting my router several times, running every troubleshooter I can find for my network connection on the computer side, and nothing. For a while, I could at least connect to my desktop and ping lots of things, but lately it's just been dead for no apparent reason. The second is the keyboard/touchpad. During the process of running updates, apparently I found a bad driver. I've had 2 BSODs because of the touchpad, and it seems to be causing problems with the keyboard to the point where I can't type while the touchpad driver is installed. Without the touchpad driver, I have no multi-touch capability. Trying older drivers now, since an update seemed to be what caused that. Should be able to do SOMETHING about this. The network issue is the biggest pain right now, because I've been working on it since last night with no results. I haven't been able to try it with wireless outside my apartment yet, but I'm getting there. Anyway, time to keep trying with the drivers. I'll get this thing working eventually. EDIT: Just installed the next newest version of the touchpad driver, everything seems to be working now on that side of things. Just need to get that damn wireless issue figured out. I'm seriously baffled by it. Considering resetting my router to defaults and starting from scratch, but I want to try a couple more things before that point. Also, no other devices connected to that wireless network have been having any issues. WTF???? SECOND EDIT: Reset router to defaults, manually reconfigured. Wireless works now. Weird. |
