So, I realize this is totally stupid, but I don't care. I've started working on something I call "Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit of Demons." I came up with the idea while in a teacher training yesterday, and I posted images of some sketches I did based on the idea.

Last night and today I wrote out the first draft of my plot outline. It's not well written (because it's not meant to be; it's just an outline), so I'm not sharing it, but here's the general synopsis:

In his experiments with electricity, Benjamin Franklin inadvertently allows a powerful demon to enter our world and possess his body. He goes into hiding and begins building an army to invade the capital and eventually the world. When Thomas Jefferson dies in 1826, he is chosen by a mysterious force (known in my outline as simply, "The Voice") to hunt down Demon Franklin and destroy him.

However, Franklin has brought his top lieutenant to possess Andrew Jackson, who is elected in 1828. Demon Jackson uses his power to create a base of operations for the demon army. However, Jefferson arrives and trashes the place, finally destroying the demon in Jackson, freeing the president's soul. However, he is ambushed by Franklin and banished to the demon dimension.

With his army destroyed and his powers dwindling in our dimension, Franklin uses the last of his energy to summon a top demon scientist and his next highest ranking lieutenant to assist him in building a device to merge the demon dimension with ours. The demons take the bodies of John H. Duncan (designer of Grant's Tomb, which is used to disguise the building of the dimension merging device) and Thomas Edison.

Meanwhile, Nikola Tesla creates a device that allows Jefferson to return to our world. Tesla and Jefferson team up to stage an assault on Grant's Tomb. The final battle takes place with Tesla battling Demon Edison and Jefferson battling Demon Franklin. Demon Duncan, however, activates the device, and must be stopped. Jefferson uses Tesla teleforce weapon to finish off the demon and destroy the machine. Edison and Duncan go about their lives, freed from the demons' powers, and Jefferson and Franklin pass to the afterlife.

Like I said, I know it's silly. My more detailed summary has other ridiculous details and is more developed than this, but that's the basics so far. It may be retarded, but it's been fun to work on so far. I'm thinking about somehow involving the Civil War as an explanation for why Franklin took so long to develop the device after losing Jackson, but I don't know, yet.

And that, my friends, is what the state of South Carolina has been paying me to do the last two days. Huzzah for public education, eh?
