MakPhee Boom Biddy
21 year-old male from Charlottetown, P.E.I.
Hey, this is where I sum up my existence for you. My name's Jordan MacPhee; I'm 18 years old; I live in my hometown of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island; I'm a delivery driver for Domino's pizza; I go to school at UPEI in the business program but I'm trying to get into the music program there; I play guitar, bass, piano, and sing for a band that we can't seem to name; my all-time favorite band is The Beatles or Led Zeppelin, and I really like Sam Roberts currently. My favorite movie of all-time is The Godfather. I like weed.

Oh, well I'm definitely not limited to the onboard effects. I just bought a Boss GT-10 effects processor and it's absolutely incredible. I can't sit down with the thing for an hour without finding something new that makes me want to play around with it for days.

one thing i like about it is that it has a really pure un-colored clean tone. what this means to me, is that i can sculpt any sort of sound i want by using outboard effects. the stuff on the amp is great to set the "atmosphere", little tweaks that i like to carry over through an entire set to keep the sound somewhat consistent, but if you want to start playing with your sound, the onboard effects do start to limit your choices.... they're not the best in the world, and are a bit toy-ish, which is what i think they meant.

as long as you understand that you can't reach this amp's full potential with only the onboard effects, you'll do fine.

for live performances i rarely use an amp. i run my effects and such straight into the PA system of the place i'm doing my gig.

however, if i'm somewhere that doesn't have a PA, i have a Line 6 Spider II 75W amp for my electric, and a 90W Behringer acoustic amplifier. and i have a small mixer that I use on my acoustic guitar with a couple mics. i've never turne either amp past about 2 or 3, because despite their size... they're damned loud. i could imagine playing a crowd of at least a hundred with either. especially indoors. outdoors you may loose a little sound to the environment, but i think you'd do okay.

Remember this post you made in The Musicians Help Thread a couple of months ago?
Because of all of the people it attracts?

Btw, there's a pretty cool true story behind the name, Lights Out. For the past 5 or 6 months, whenever I walk or drive directly under streetlights, they occasionally happen to burn out at the exact moment as I pass underneath them. The first few times I just shrugged it off, then it kept happening. 27 times. At least. I know at least because if I wasn't sure between 12 or 13, for example, I would choose the 12. Also, the day that I came up with the name (lights 23 and 24), my friend, Josh, and I were watching "Oz" and three times, the guards said "Lights out," which they barely ever show in any episode, and him and I were talking about what time lights out would be in prison (10:00, btw). AND my other friend, MacNeil (also a Josh), wrote lyrics including a line that read, "Lights flicker and burn out," of course, it was in reference to my coincidences, but it's still weird that he wrote it on that exact day. Lastly, when we were ten and didn't even play instruments, Josh and I formed a band that comprised of us thinking up the name and that's it. For no meaningful reason whatsoever, the first name that popped into my head (8 years ago), was Lights Out.

Fucking nuts, huh? Sign from God, dude.

Edit: I forgot about this one that proves it's not just a series of coincidences. One Saturday night, my mom asked me to come over and nail yard sale signs to the wooden streetlights at the sides of the road near our neighborhood before I went out with my three friends, MacNeil, Josh, and Drew (not in the band). I posted them both and as I was walking away with the hammer, I had this sudden urge to walk back to the streetlight and hit it with the hammer. I went back, and the nanosecond, nay, the MICROsecond that the hammer made contact the post, the light immediately burnt out, and I could hear all three guys just yelling at me to get back in the fucking car.

Also, my mom witnessed one and my grandmother witnessed two of them go out within five minutes. I told everyone in my family the name and the story behind and they all love it. The day after I thought of it, I wasn't too fond of it, but I definitely like it.

I was browsing Reddit today, and found something you might find interesting/relevant.

Um.... I didn't get ashamed. None of us did. I'm not twisting your words. YOU SAID that we were all arguing with you because we didn't want to "change".

So, you know, if anyone is twisting words, it is you. You are making up reasons as to why people don't think like you.

"Convince me" was about them proving to me that there is reason behind their lack of desire to inhibit their own actions and the repercussions those actions toll on the planet.

Wait, you think the sole reason they are debating this issue with you is because they are ASHAMED of something that you think they SHOULD BE?

lol
