Major?
So a buddy of mine (well, the husband of a buddy of mine) just got pinned Major. This is great news, and I am very happy for him, and his wife (who was a classmate of mine at West Point) but what blows me away is that this guy came from just one or two classes ahead of me at West Point... for those of you who know, this is CRAZY below the zone (BZ) - the standard time for Major is 11 years I think... He did it in 7 or 8, tops! Nothing particularly special about him either. Artillery Officer, no grad school, no Ranger tab, not SF or anything super secret, only badge is a set of jump wings (no Red Beret) etc. Like I said, I'm happy for them and all, but damn, does it make me feel like a shitbag. Oh yeah, and Major's get freakin PAID. it helps that almost all his money is disposable income, and his only dependent is a hot wife (who is also an MI Captain, which almost doubles thier money) but really... this guy is living the high life, and fast tracked for a senior level staff job (doubt he has the pre-reqs for a high speed command, but the Pentagon is great for career staff guys) |
