Dress Rehearsal
Life is busy! I'm midway through a dress rehearsal for Little Women the Musical (I am the female ensemble and am understudying all the female parts); as soon as we finish our current run-through, I have to run back to USC and put on a little black dress, then head to Bovard Auditorium to compete in Absolut A Cappella, a singing competition for the collegiate cappella groups of Southern California. That's been life of late; an endless zipping back and forth between South Central and West Hollywood. Ah, the life of the [starving] artist. I have an audition on Friday for a new musical with a soprano lead I feel I'd be perfect for. Rehearsals for said show, "The Green Room," begin the day after Little Women ends, which would be great because I'd be seamlessly going from one project to another... just like a real actor! I'll be spending any free time I have this week (of which there won't be a great abundance, as I have an Astronomy midterm Tuesday, and previews for LW start Thursday) prepping for that. Other than rehearsals, there is little to report. My dog is losing her winter coat, so even a mild pat on her back releases a large, fist-size tuft of fur. We went for a 5k run this morning, which was lovely. I'm thrilled for LW to start, and hoping that I get the chance to stand in for one of the actresses, although I really need to put my nose to the memorization grindstone if that's going to happen. And I hope that this professional, paying gig is a gigantic springboard for bigger things. Ahhh. I cannot wait to graduate (am I really saying this?) so that I have time to devote myself fully to auditioning. I cannot wait to move to New York. There are an abundance of things I'm yearning for, just out of reach. It's nice to be back here. I've missed you all. I hope you are well. xoxo P |
