Begin rant sequence
I just got a speeding ticket.

184 dollars for doing 81 on a service road "supposed" to be going 50.

Now, I don't argue that i was going fast. Hell that was actually faster than usual(i really wanted to get home from work). And i deserve the speeding ticket. I really do. The posted is 50 and i was clearly going over that speed. I also lost 3 points. Because i imagine going 81km per hour is fast in a residential area where the posted speed limit is 50. In other parts of the city its 40 sorry, in the richer parts its 40, in the normal parts its 50. Whatever, thats wrong on its own, but hey im not here to talk about that. What really killed the whole experience for me was the fact that i wasnt stopped by one police officer. i was stopped by 3 squad cars. Which approximately houses 2 police officers each coming out to 6 police officers. There was one tagging people from half a kilometer away. 3 were handing out tickets. And 2 were doing nothing outside the cars (maybe they were trading shifts with the guy holding the radar you know that can get tiresome).

Now, this bothers me for 2 main reasons.

First off being that ive never seen police there on a Tuesday night EVER and they just so happened to be there on the last day of the month when their quota was coming in for tickets. They probably even know that going 50 in that zone is insane by any measure. Thats probably why they scout it. In any case they were giving out speeding tickets because they needed to fill their quota. They needed to show that they were useful. so that some of them would not get fired( i imagine) or so there wouldn't be any cutbacks. If they were to be cut then it would mean that during the month they were not useful they didn't do their job during the month and now they pay the price because they're just not good cops. See ive seen this attitude before. I'm a student, i know the score. Slack off during the entire semester, cram the night before the final and pass. I know that practice is unacceptable. The people that do that are happy they passed but at the same time know that they shouldve done better during the semester. They also do this in Disney movies. Very entertaining. I am not amused by this practice. I think its childish and inappropriate.

Another thing.

Its fairly obvious at this point and time that there are too few officers on the street protecting the citizens. How do i know this? I run a computer shop. Its not much but it helps me pay my bills. Last week a customer nearly stabbed me in the face with a screwdriver. Now my first instict is to get behind the counter and call 9-1-1 Thinking hey the police will help me. 20 minutes later after i had started calling the police had arrived. The culprit had left, and i was a wreck. In those 20 minutes i could have been killed. Now someone can say hey the police arent right next to you 20 minutes isn't bad. You're wrong. Because the police are 4 stores away from me. 3 minutes max maybe 2 even they should have been here. Instead i imagine they were out handing parking tickets for their quota.

Do i feel wronged?

Yes.

Do i feel better after ranting?

Yes.

Will bringing any of this to the attention of the authorities do anything?

No because they're all a bunch of hypocrites who only care about the bottom line.

I went in to pay the parking ticket at the police station and they said to me "Why would you think you could pay the ticket here?" and i told her "Because when a business sends me an invoice i am usually able to pay it at the store.". We looked at each other and i said "Thanks anyways" and i left.
