Yikes...
Kind of dropped off the face of the planet there, eh? Well, it's long overdue that I update you guys, those four who still read my journals. School I am back in Iowa City and in classes again. My schedule sucks some days and kicks ass others. For some reason I can never get it to work out that I have no classes on certain days, but I got pretty damn close. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays I only have one class. Mondays and Wednesdays, I have three for seven hours. Ah well, can't have it all, right? Work Work has not only cut back a little, it's come to a screeching halt. Now that the holidays are over, Best Buy's cutting budgets like crazy, meaning less work hours. This first week I had off due to transfer issues so technically my first day back is tomorrow, but I'm only working 14 hours this week. I also hope to god that the schedule just hasn't been posted for the week after next as I have no shifts... Unfortunately, since I was gone for a month and still one of the 'newer' people at this store despite working with the company for almost four years, I have the feeling I'm going to be getting the short end of the stick. Hopefully things turn around there. Yeah... been playing a lot of SWTOR. I love the game, there's no denying it, but I'm slowly realizing I'm loving it for all the wrong reasons according to the populace. There's no doubt I'm more of a single player RPG person, and even then, by gaming standards, I'm still a little new to the genre. My first RPG I ever played thoroughly was Oblivion (besides Paper Mario, but that game was just fucking awesome) and even then it wasn't until about a year after it came out did I give it a chance. Now, though, the single player aspect has a firm grip on me (shut up) and I love a great story with the ability to create your own character. SWTOR is giving me the opportunity to do what no other Star Wars game has; the opportunity to create a trooper. I love the Trooper story, despite it being a tad bit predictable, and I love the options you have. But hey, who plays MMOs for story and character development? Me? Oh yeah... Don't get me wrong, I'm getting into the more multiplayer aspect of the abbreviation, like PvP, Dungeons, and fighting world bosses, but I still tend to drift back to the story. Another thing now has me even more hooked than before, and that is roleplaying. RPing I've always done in a forum setting, post by post, and even then I haven't been doing it for that long. A couple nights ago Joshua (halosavior) and I got in on the Republic meet and greet in game roleplaying event, hoping to get a bit more involved, and boy did we. I had a lot of fun with some friends of ours over in an allied guild, Absolution, and we RPed for nearly six hours. Last night we had a TSV/Absolution event with more members from each side joining in, and it was a blast. Definitely looking forward to more of that. Miscellaneous Spring Break it looks like my family and I are heading to Universal Studios in Florida (Hilts, you anywhere near there?). Really looking forward to that as I finally get to see the Harry Potter setup they have now. I've been to the park once, but it was a while back and from what I hear many things have changed. I'm excited to go there again. My little brother, Luke, is cracking me up. My parents and I have been talking about it for a few weeks now, but just a few days ago Luke called me and left me a message: "Amanda, you didn't hear this from me, but we might be going to Universal Studios for Spring Break." I cracked up at the message. He's called me several times in the past few days, talking about everything we can do. God I love the kid, he's changed so much in the past couple years. Over break he took his own money and bought me a Carter figure just because he wanted me to know he appreciated everything I've done for him, it was extremely adorable. In May he's going to be 13. THIRTEEN. He's going to be my age when I signed up on this website. Not gonna lie, coming to that realization has thoroughly freaked me out just now. Okay, time to stop myself. Just one of those days when you start writing and can't stop. Ever happen to you? No? Okay... Have a good one, I'll be sure to update more often. Shotgun out. |
