"Time is an Ocean in a Storm"I recently watch the Prince of Persia movie with a friend. I’ve been a fan of the game series for a few years, my favourite being Warrior Within, and when I heard they were making a movie my interest was peaked. Obviously at first I feared it would follow the whole “Video Game Movie†train wreck that has plagued past movies before, but when I saw the trailer my fear was eased up a bit due to the many different elements that related back to the games, such as the dagger of time, the acrobatics, and the way the Prince’
s arm resembles the Dark Prince from The Two Thrones game.
I was looking forward to the film but I didn’t hype myself up over it due to a few words and rumours I hear from people who saw it before me. Now that I’ve seen it I must say I was entertained, there were many more game elements than what the trailer had shown and the actor playing the Prince was both believable and humorous. The story however was a little weak compared to the games but still engaging and keeps you interested. There were no sand creatures or mystical monsters to do battle with, instead there are bands of thieves, mortal armies and a group of bizarre assassins, which personally isn’t the same.
The special effects were excellent, specifically the time powers of the dagger, and are of the level you would expect from a Disney action movie. All in all I liked the film, but thought it was still a little weak in capturing what fans were expecting from this movie. I give it a 7/10.
