How do you top off a good festival?
A riot! thats how.

this weekend i was at the carling weekend festival in leeds, England. it was a good festival with some awsome sets from Manson, Iron Maiden, NoFX, Foo Fighters, Pixies and a whole lot more with very little trouble at all....

Then sunday night happned....

a massive riot kicked off because the sec-guards got a little to big for there boots and started pushing people about for no reason. The campers didn't like where this was going and as such, rallied a mob and took a stand. the sec-guards who where out numbered by about 1000-1 called for back up via the west Yorkshire police riot squad who promptly arrived on site ready to rumble.

Sadly, they underestimated just how out of hand it had gotten, looting of the beer tents and fires every other tent, the police where pretty much fucked. A few of the police got there riot shields nicked which just led to mayhem. the police and sec-guards joined forces and started beating the living shit out of anyone they could get there hands on, (or so some of the campers said this morning as we chatted while packing) massive explosions rocked the camp site as gas canisters where thrown on the flaming tents, thus making it all ten times worse. Things calmed down somewhat as drunken people ran naked across the site with no police in toe because you find me someone straight who wants to tackle a drunken naked guy, and I’ll find you a liar.

While the trouble was no where near as bad as it was three years ago, it still was a good festival, and you know what people are like for hamming up a story after a few beers in the tent. All in all a good weekend.
